Melissima

Craftsmanship

Six stages, most of them by hand. Here is exactly how a Melissima piece comes into being.

Sketch and wax

Every design begins on paper, then is carved or grown in wax so it can be held, worn and adjusted before any metal is committed.

Casting

We use lost-wax casting with recycled precious metal. The wax is burned out of a plaster mould and molten metal takes its place, capturing detail down to a fraction of a millimetre.

Setting and finishing

Stones are set by hand under magnification. Each piece is then filed, pre-polished and hand polished in stages — the slowest and most skill-dependent part of the entire process.

Quality control

Every piece is inspected individually: clasp strength, stone security, finish consistency and hallmark accuracy. Anything that fails is remade, not discounted.
